General Treatment Through Acupressure Points

What is acupressure?

Acupressure is an alternative therapy (health treatment technique) that works on similar principles as acupuncture. It is ideal for self-treatment and preventive health care. In this technique pressure is applied on acu-points to clear blockages from the meridians and release the muscular tension that works on the concept that life energy flows through meridians in the body.

How to apply pressure on acu-points?

Pressure should be applied empty stomach on acu-points on the meridians through fingers, thumb, palm, and elbow or with special devices for about 20 seconds. There are 12 main meridians. These meridians are connected with the brain and from there to various organs. In case of any health problem when pressure is applied on acu-points the person feels pain on that particular point or points connected with the health condition. Pressure increases blood circulation and stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. One should not eat anything about half an hour after acupressure.

There are two more meridians which are called conceptional vessel and governing vessel. Conceptional vessel deals with front middle line that starts from the point between anus and uterus and ends below the center of the lower lip. The governing vessel starts from the tail bone, moves up through of middle of spine; continue from the middle of the head and ends inside the center of the upper lip.

How to trace the acu-point?

Apply pressure on the point and on nearby area. The spot that is most pressure-sensitive is the required acu-point to treat the health issue.

Points given below in the figures are general points for the body organs and connected diseases. Similar points are at both sides of the hands and feet. There are many more points for curing the diseases that we will discuss in details separately for individual disease. Massaging around these points gives an additional health benefit to cure the diseases.

Precaution: If you are suffering from any chronic disease, long-standing illness or from a disorder involving tissue change or degeneration, you should not do acu-point stimulation. Pressure should also not be applies on acu-points before or after 1/2 hour of taking hot water bath or taking your meal.
